coronavirus birthday

Happy Coronavirus Birthday to Me

It’s my birthday. What better day to give birth to my latest venture? Thanks so much for stopping by to say hello.

It’s a strange birthday. I’m turning 45 in an old family house in the mountains. My kids and I have been social distancing here for weeks. With little contact with anyone else.

It’s my coronavirus birthday.

Not quite the party I had in mind.

I’ve Always Been a Party Girl

People who know me well know I like to throw a party. Might be among my very favorite things to do. I love to pamper people, to welcome them into my home. I love to make my guests feel loved and taken care of. Just one of those things that makes my heart go pitter-pat.

I love to cook, too. So there’s that. I don’t get to do it often enough. The blitz of a party helps scratch that itch.

And I love bringing people together. Because the people I know? I am beyond win-the-lottery fortunate.

I have gotten to meet an incredible cast of characters along my travels around the globe and over the years. I am so grateful. My life would not be the technicolor ride it is without each and every one of you.

Coronavirus makes it hard to do any of those things. So I’ve invited you here to my little virtual party and shared enough of myself, I hope, to help us feel connected.

Save the Date: April 2025

I am stating here, for the record, that I’m going to have an AMAZING 50th birthday party. April 2025. IRL. You’re all invited.

In the meantime, let’s all stay healthy and do everything we can to keep each other healthy, too? Please?

I am sending so much love to everyone in this time.

It has and will threaten some of our lives. It has changed them all.

And so much gratitude to the many people I know working on the front lines, putting their lives at risk to help save others. These are unreal times. You are true heroes.

Thanks for Helping Celebrate My Coronavirus Birthday

If you’re here, it’s because I value you and am grateful to count you in my inner circle.

This is a work in progress, more undone than done, but I’ve heard from a few folks that you’re actually supposed to START BEFORE YOU’RE READY.

So please bear with me as I figure some things out and make some mistakes.

I hope some of the things I share in this space—the stuff I’ve learned in my 45 orbits around the sun so far—is helpful to some of you in some small way.

Thanks to all of you for all you’ve taught me.

xoxo, Jeanette
